Certain parties out to destroy minister, says Labis MCA chief

LABIS: Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was stabbed from behind by certain parties who want to destroy the leader politically, said Labis MCA division chairman Tan Kok Hong yesterday.

He urged MCA to act against those involved in the production and distribution of the DVDs.

Tan said the division would support Dr Chua, who is also Health Minister and MCA vice-president, to contest for the Labis parliamentary seat in the next general election despite the DVD issue.

He said members in the division felt sad about the issue as Dr Chua was a dedicated, responsible leader and minister who had brought tremendous development to Labis.

“We want the party and the authorities to investigate who is behind the distribution (of the DVD) as it is a dirty move for anyone to intrude into one’s personal life.

“If it can happen to Dr Chua, it can happen to everyone,” he said.

Tan said Dr Chua was well accepted and respected by everyone in the division, including Felda settlers and villagers, and that it was sad that this had to happen to the leader.

Earlier, Labis Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Sulaiman Taha said Dr Chua was a brave leader to admit the deed and openly apologise for his mistake.

He said Labis Barisan would continue to give its support to Dr Chua and urged the leader to continue to serve the people as the DVD issue would not have any adverse effect on Labis Barisan and Labis MCA, adding that the DVD issue would not destroy the people’s support for Dr Chua.

“However, we are disappointed with those parties who created the issue and we want the police to investigate,” he added.
