SHAH ALAM: Five people including a woman have been arrested in connection with the murder of eight-year-old Nurul Jazlin Jazimin here on Thursday.
A team of police officers from the Petaling Jaya and Selangor police at about 11.30pm picked up the five aged between 27 and 33 from several locations in Section 7 here.
It is learnt one of the five, a man in his 30s, has a string of criminal records including sexual assault cases here and in several other states.
CID director Commissioner Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee said the arrests were made possible following information from the public.
"Two cars and five cellular phones were seized from the suspects,'' he said, adding that they were detained to assist police in their investigation into the murder of Nurin Jazlin.
The arrest of the five is the first major breakthrough police have made since Nurin Jazlin was first reported missing from her Wangsa Maju flat on Aug 20.
Police have been working tirelessly to nab the killer/s and have reopened several old cases with similar modus operandi to narrow down their suspects.
Nurin Jazlin went missing on Aug 20 after she went to a night market by herself near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju, in Setapak.
Her body was found stuffed in a sports bag at a three-storey shop lot in Petaling Utama on Sept 17.
A post-mortem showed that she had been sexually assaulted.

An FBI agent is in Kuala Lumpur while another will arrive soon, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan yesterday.
“They are helping us with the investigation, especially on the technical side,” he said, adding that the images have been handed over to the agent, who is based at the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
“The CCTV footage we have is blurry. We hope the FBI will be able to sharpen the images.” Once the image is enhanced, police will come up with a photofi t.
Musa said a local police offi cer will accompany the agents to the FBI laboratory.
“We recently contacted an FBI representative stationed here and they agreed to help,” he said.
He reiterated that police are working on several leads but declined to elaborate further.
Musa told reporters this after presenting Hari Raya goodies to police personnel at Federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman yesterday.
It was reported that police have retrieved images of two possible suspects from a CCTV camera close to where Nurin was found.
One of them is a motorcyclist with a sports bag while the other is a petite woman in a red top, who left the area with three men in a Perodua Kenari.
Nurin was reported missing after visiting a pasar malam near her house in Section 1, Wangsa Maju on Aug 20.
Her body was found stuffed in a sports bag that had been dumped in front of a book distribution company in PJS 1/48, Petaling Jaya Utama on Sept 17.

She died from infection as the objects had ruptured her abdomen.
Nurin was buried at the Taman Ibukota Muslim cemetery last Friday.

POLICE received another breakthrough in their investigations into the death of Nurin Jazilin Jazimin.
Two days ago, a distraught mother lodged a police report at Wangsa Maju station claiming that her six-yearold daughter was approached by a man in August who invited her to go feed cats at a mining pool somewhere.
The girl was at a pasar malam in Setapak when the man approached her.
She refused and walked away. The girl told her mother about it but she brushed it off. The woman was disturbed when she read about the gruesome discovery on Sept 17 and decided to lodge a report.
It is not known if the girl was alone or with someone else when the man approached her.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has named Dr Sheikh Muszaphar as the “primary candidate” and Kapt Dr Faiz Khaleed as the “secondary candidate” to go to space.
There has been a lot of speculation in the past few weeks with the foreign media naming Dr Sheikh Muszaphar as Malaysia’s first angkasawan (astronaut).
The Malaysian Angkasawan will join American astronaut Peggy Whitson and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko in the flight to the International Space Station on board the Russian Soyuz TMA-11, which will blast off from Baikanur in Kazakhstan on Oct 10.

Najib said he personally had not seen the footage.
However, he stressed that it was important to establish the veracity of the footage "before jumping to any conclusion."
"Modern day technology can also be abused and fabricated. So before we conclude anything let us establish whether there is basis or not," Najib told reporters after launching the Malaysia Airlines Engineering Training Center here on Friday.
Asked if an investigation on the matter would be carried out, he said: "We have to establish it first. Then whatever it is, we will decide at the next stage."
To a question, Najib said he had "not formally" spoken to Chief Justice Tun Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim about the matter.
Probed further on whether he had engaged in communication with the Chief Justice, Najib said: "I think you better ask the Chief Justice, in this regard."
On Wednesday, Parti Keadilan Rakyat released a videoclip, purportedly shot in 2002, which it obtained recently of the lawyer talking on the telephone to someone who seemed to be a senior judge about how he (the lawyer) had helped get this judge appointed to one of the top judiciary posts.
According to the telephone conversation, the appointment was done through a prominent businessman and a politician.
The lawyer was heard saying that he was working through the two persons to get the judge elevated even further and get him a “Tan Sri” title. The names of a number of prominent judges were also mentioned in the video.

A great insight from an American beauty pageant on why Americans can't locate their own country in the world map...truly hilarious anwer.
Question: Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate U.S. in a world map, why do you think this is?
Answer:
An interesting article from Lim Kit Siang, a Malaysian opposition leader (DAP). He wrote:
"Anwar Ibrahim has produced an explosive video clip on Judiciary Compromised which has set off reverberations in the Palace of Justice, the corridors of power, offices and homes in the country as well as internationally.
The time for reckoning for the restoration of a truly independent judiciary and a just rule of law cannot be put off any longer.
Malaysiakini has carried the transcript of the conversation between lawyer V.K. Lingam with Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz sometime in 2002, as recorded in the videoclip, viz:
“The CJ said he is relative to now Agong, so he wants to stay on to 68, so, Tengku Adnan, I told Tengku Adnan, yesterday I had a meeting with him.
He said PM is already very angry with him, he said no problem he is going to make you acting err.. confirm your position as PCA, working very hard then working very hard to get Tan Sri Mokhtar as CJM.
Ah, we just keep it confidential. I am working very hard on it. Then there is a letter, according to Tengku, I am going to see him tomorrow, there is a letter sent to CJ, I mean Tan Sri Dzaiddin, that Datuk Heliliah, Datuk Ramli, Datuk Ramli and Datuk Ma’roop be made judges, and he rejected Dr Andrew Chui and apa itu Zainuddin Ismail lah. Because Zainuddin Ismail condemned your appointment and Tan Sri Mokhtar’s appointment.
And then you also, you seems to wrote a letter for the remaining five be confirmed as judges. As per our memo I discuss with Tun Eusoff Chin and we sent the same memo to PM.
I just want to get a copy letter that that has been done.
And then Tan Sri Dzaiddin said he is going to recommend six people for the court of appeal, but until today the letter hasn’t come to PM. He never discuss, but neither he has sent the letter to PM. Yes he has not sent. I know it is under the constitution for judges all that is your job Datuk to send, but we don’t want to make it an issue now.
Ah. Ok Actually I told Tengku Adnan to inform PM, PM to call you for a meeting. I organize it so that Tengku Adnan will call you directly. And then I got your number, I will tell him to call you directly to for you to meet PM lah. So should be ok, then ar.. correct correct, it is very important that the key players must be there.
Correct x3. correct x2. You know that the same problem that Tun Eusoff Chin has. He tried to do all this and yet he has run out of soldiers. He couldn’t do it because many are from the other camp. Last time was unfortunate because Tun Daim was doing everything sabotaging, otherwise how are things with you - everything is ok?. No, don’t worry.
You know sometimes Tan Sri Vincent that half the time they are talking about judiciary rather than doing the work. But if I don’t do this part my work will be useless.
Ha ha ha. Ah yes.Correct x5, right x3 correct. Ah right susah. You see he has now up for six court of appeal judges, so that he can put his men before he retires.
Correct x3, ah and then ah, correct. But never-mind, I will do this, I will get Tengku Adnan to arrange for PM to call you and Tan Sri Vincent Tan for PM to call you. And you know why, actually, I am very grateful with Tan Sri Vincent Tan you know why, I brainwash you so much even I quarrel with him.
One day I went to Vincent Tan house, I fire him at the night in his house. I said bloody hell if you don’t do this who will do it?
All these people Tun Eusoff Chin, Datuk Ahmad Fairuz, Tan Sri Zainon all fought for that. Then he called Tengku Adnan. Tengku Adnan he said, saya bukan Perdana Menteri Malaysia lah, you know. If the old man doesn’t want to listen to me, go to hell.
He quarreled with me. I said never mind, never mind, you talk to PM again tomorrow morning to put Datuk Ahmad Fairuz to CJM. So next day morning he went and he called me back 9.30 that he said PM has already agreed.
So I said never mind, we hope for the best. So I said no harm trying, the worst that it can happen is that you lose. Being the old man, he is 76 years old, he gets whispers everywhere, and then you don’t whisper, he get taken away by the other side. But, now PM is very alert because every time he gets letters from Tan Sri Dzaiddin, he called Tengku Adnan, he said discuss with Vincent, come and discuss.
Yes yes, ya. Correct x2, ya, but you see although I know PM, I am a lawyer in practice my views are.. I go through them, I go through them lah. Ah x4.
And then Dzaiddin will call them telling that you went saw PM and you make a big issue out of it. Oh ya, I think so, I think so.
Ok, fine x4 ok x4
Ah x2 correct x2. Now I heard Raja Aziz, Raja Aziz two weeks ago spoke to my lawyer Thayalan, and another lawyer Ailan, in the high court, they have a case each other. So, Thayalan and Ailan asked Raja Aziz, how is Tan Sri Wan Adnan?
He said he is on his way down. But you know what is the shocking thing he said? Datuk Fairuz became CJM. He overruled everybody, in three months time, he is going be made PCA, and 6 months time he is going to be CJ. He said he can’t think, he’s shocked. He told us.
Ha, it seems that they are going to organize a campaign to run you down. But you just keep quite, don’t say anything. Even the press asked, you said I leave it to God, that’s all. Don’t say. I really like your message. You said you work very hard, what can I do? I leave it to God.
That’s the best answer Datuk that you can ever be.
Ah… I will also get Tan Sri to remind PM to put a Tan Sri-ship this year lah. This will elevate you, you know.
Oh yes x4. ha. Steve Shim got so fast, Tan Sri Chong waited for whole year to get Tan Sri-ship.
Ah.. My god that’s why, ah. Correct x4, ya x4 right x3 correct x2
Don’t worry, we organize this. If Tan Sri Vincent and Tengku Adnan want to meet you privately, they will, I will call you. We organize in a private arrangement, in a very neutral place.
No don’t worry, Datuk, I know how much you suffer for Tun Eusoff Chin. And Tun said Datuk Ahmad Fairuz 110% loyalty. We want to make sure our friends are there for the sake of the PM and the sake of the country.
Not for our own interest, not for our own interest. We want to make sure the country come first. Well, you suffered so well, so much you have done. For the election, Wee Choo Keong, everything. How much, no body would have done all these.
Yes, you know. Good lah. Don’t worry. I am constantly working on this.
Ya ya, don’t worry x2. We work hard on this. And Datuk, and then if Tan Sri Vincent and Tengku Adnan want to see you, I will organize it in such a confidential place.
Ok Datuk very best. God bless you and your family.
Ok. Thank you thank you. Bye.”
An immediate response from Tun Fairuz is called for. Is he going to confirm or deny the phone conversation?" Read further...

Got this creepy guy hor, come and approach me when I was sitting at Burger King and say he would give me $100,000 if I go and kill his wife leh. I think it's not a very nice thing to do, but then, I donno his wife, and the money is si beh solid. How? Should I do it?
Teenager
Dear Teenager,
I never understand why people want to kill their wife. Si beh leceh one. If you not happy with your marriage is very simpur one. Just go Chow Kit and find some GRO in a KTV lounge, and everything is gau timm. But I agree, $100,000 is a lot of money.
I have a better suggestion. Why don't you go and tell his wife about it, then ask how much she wants for you to kill him? After all he sounds like an asshole. If he finds out, then up the price. And say if he doesn't pay, you'll tell the police. Simpur-simpur, and you don't have to kill anybody.PENANG: Most Penangites were not aware of the tsunami alert and many were still enjoying the cool sea breeze at the Esplanade and Gur-ney Drive last night.
A check by The Star found that most had not heard about the 8.2 magnitude earthquake off Sumatra until police officers in patrol cars arri-ved, and and instructed them to stay away from the beaches.
Driver Ismail Abu Bakar, 40, had just parked his motorcycle at the Esplande when he heard about the alert from the police.
“I did not know about the earthquake. Now I am a little worried and I think it is best to leave,” he said.
Three Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) students, who were fishing at Esplanade, also packed up their equipment and left.
One of the students, who wanted to be known only as David, said that he and his two friends had heard about the Indonesian earthquake on the car radio but they went on with their plans as they were already there.
“We are not really worried about it. We have been advised to watch the water and if it suddenly subsides, we should make a run,” the 23-year-old said.
Many like them complied with the police’s instructions. However, some did not heed the alert.
Earlier, some residents at Sri Tanjong, Jalan Perak, felt tremors in their apartments.
A resident, Tan Lay Hoon, 49, staying on the eighth floor, said that she noticed her chair shaking while she was reading the newspaper.
“It was about 7.20pm when I felt the tre-mors. They lasted about four minutes. I was shocked so I went over to my neighbour’s and asked her if she had felt anything. She thought she was dizzy due to her high blood pressure.
“I later called up a friend who lives at Lebuh Macallum. She also felt the tremors. We later found out from the news that there was an earthquake in Indonesia,” she said.
However, Tan was not afraid when she felt the tremors and did not leave her apartment, saying that she had encountered stronger tre-mors before during previous incidents.
According to the state Meteorological De-partment, the tsunami alert was called off at 11pm.
