Beggar spends RM40 in daily taxi fare to beg


It costs RM40 to travel by taxi from Kuala Nerang, Kedah, to this capital of Perlis.

A visually handicapped man was prepared to part with that sum daily to come here — all for the sake of begging in the streets.

The 36-year-old beggar was one of seven rounded up under the “Ops Selamat" operation here last night.

Perlis Social Welfare Department director Abdullah Ali told Bernama today the beggar was picked up while begging at the Titi Chai night market in Utan Aji near here.

Investigations revealed that the beggar had been receiving aid from the department but the assistance was terminated when it was found that he was involving in begging.
Abdullah said the detained beggars were handed over to their guardians while family members found to be living on the alms of beggars were given counselling, and beggars with no family or accommodation were given temporary shelter at Rumah Sri Kenangan, Jejawi, near here.

Burglar who picked the ‘wrong’ house


KEMANAN: A burglar entered a house-turned-grocery shop, thinking he was in for a killing. He nearly got himself killed instead.

The owner, who was away to celebrate Hari Raya Haji returned home yesterday morning to find the burglar trapped in the house for 72 hours without food and water.

The intruder was fatigued and dehydrated when the owner and his wife returned to the shop in Kampung Binjai from their hometown in Kota Baru.

The couple, in their early 50s, found the burglar lying in a room, clasping his hands in an apologetic gesture for his wrongdoing.

The owner, instead of calling the police, decided to call an ambulance to rush the burglar to the nearest hospital.

When interrogated later, the 36-year-old burglar told investigating officers that he had sneaked into the house after realising the owner was out.

The burglar, who entered via the back door, claimed that he was blinded once he was inside and felt like he was in a cave.

“Each time I wanted to flee, I felt a ‘supernatural figure’ shoving me to the ground,’’ he told police.

He claimed this was his first time experiencing such trauma during a break-in.

The burglar had no choice but to stay put in the room for three days as his shouts for help were in vain.

Kemaman Deputy police chief Deputy Supt Abdul Marlik Hakim Johar said the couple lodged a police report on the same day.

He said the burglar was warded at the Kemaman Hospital and his condition is stable.

Man on car roof causes stir on highway



SUNGAI PETANI: Traffic at Km109.5 of the North-South Expressway near Taman Kempas here was reduced to a snail's pace when a motorist acted "strangely" after his car was involved in an accident with a mini-lorry yesterday.

The motorist, in his 40s, had climbed up his car rooftop almost immediately after the 6.25am incident.

He then made curious gestures at passing motorists, causing them to slow down as they passed his car, which had veered to a stop on the left lane of the highway after colliding into the lorry which was also travelling southbound towards Butterworth.

The driver of the lorry, in his 50s, along with his accompanying daughter, in her 20s, were not hurt in the mishap.

Later, policemen and firemen, who had rushed to the scene, tried in vain to coax the motorist, who was travelling alone, to come down.
The man, who was wearing a baju Melayu and a sarung, proceeded to take off his shirt.

He then lit a cigarette and assumed a sitting position on his car rooftop after complaining of the heat.

The policemen, who were assisted by several Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan patrolmen, persisted in trying to talk him into coming down and seek medical treatment.

This infuriated the man, who started to shout at those around him.

About an hour later, the policemen managed to grab the disturbed motorist when they caught him off-guard.

He was later sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for a medical check-up.

Singapore armpit-sniffer gets caning, 14 years jail



A MOLESTER with a fixation for smelling women's armpits was sentenced to 14 years in jail and ordered caned 18 times, Singapore news reports.

Mohammed Ismail Ariffin, 36, was convicted of molesting 23 females from girls as young as 9 to women in their 50s, The Straits Times said.

Community Court Judge James Leong imposed a preventive detention sentence, a jail term for hardcore prisoners with no chance of parole.

Mohammed Ismail stalked his victims and followed them into lifts, staircase landings or their homes. In some cases, he restrained them.

Apart from sniffing his victims' armpits, Mohammed Ismail also was guilty of fondling a 13-year-old and exposing himself to a 53-year- old cleaner, the court found.

Following a report from a housewife that a man had smelled her armpit on January 3, the police took a semen swab at the scene which led them to Mohammed Ismail.

A detention report submitted to the court today said the man's crime pattern put him in a group with more than a 62-per-cent chance of committing crimes again within two years of release from prison.

Pleading for leniency, lawyer Noor Mohamed Marican urged the judge to send Mohammed Ismail for a rehabilitative program and medical treatment instead of imposing a long sentence.

"The facts of the case speak for themselves," Leong was quoted as saying.

The judge said he found "precious little" in Mohammed Ismail's favour, except that he pleaded guilty.

He had previous convictions since 1991 for drug and sex-related offences.

Super duck that refuses to die



ALOR GAJAH: A duck that refuses to die after having its throat slit twice has become the talk of Masjid Tanah here.

Bahari Ali, 44, said he slit its throat about 7.45am on Sunday, but found it alive hours later.

The poultry farmer said the duck's throat had nearly been severed, but it was none the worse for it.

"Its throat had a large cut but the duck was still breathing," he said.

After observing the duck for 15 hours, Bahari sought the help of an imam to finish the job.
However, the duck did not die even after the imam slit its throat a second time.

Bahari said he had expected the duck to be dead by morning, but found it waddling around as usual.

"It is beginning to smell bad and cannot eat because of the two cuts. But it is still doing what it normally does in its coop," he added.

Wife 'lets' husband commits suicide


In MALACCA, a 56-year-old unemployed man committed suicide outside his home along a busy street in Banda Hilir here yesterday.

Teoh Cheng Liat, who was said to be a heavy drinker, told his wife at lunch that it would be his last meal.

He then hanged himself from a tree outside his house.

His wife, who did not want to be named, said he had threatened in the past to take his own life but had always backed down.

“He has done this many times before. This was his third time this year. He always ties the rope on the tree and then changes his mind,” she said.

She said her husband had told her to give the car keys to their children and wished his three pet dogs goodbye before going out of the house at about 3pm.

“I saw him tying the rope on the branch but because he'd done it so often in the past, I just let him be,” she said.

Teoh leaves behind three children.

Forceps left in woman's abdomen


JOHOR BARU: For more than one-and-a-half months, Kalaiyarasi Perumal endured a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

She dismissed it as a possible side-effect from a hysterectomy she had in September.

It was only on Deepavali day, when the pain became unbearable and she vomited incessantly, that the assistant nurse suspected that something was wrong.

When she was rushed to the private hospital where she worked, doctors suspected food poisoning but an X-ray revealed a more shocking reason for her pain.

There was a foreign object in her abdomen.
Apparently, the object was accidentally left in her abdomen during her hysterectomy at a government hospital.

She had undergone the hysterectomy after she was diagnosed with a cyst in her womb.

Following the X-ray, her doctor referred her back to the hospital which had conducted the hysterectomy.

She underwent another three-hour surgery on Nov 11 and found out that the foreign object was a 20cm-long forceps.

The forceps had ruptured part of her intestines and doctors had to remove 5cm of the damaged intestine.

"It has been more than 10 days since I was warded. Now, I feel better and there is no more pain. But I am afraid that there may be problems in the future," said the single mother of one.

When asked if she was going to take legal action against the hospital, Kalaiyarasi, 44, said her focus now was to get well.

The hospital director could not be contacted.

Boy's fingertip down toilet flushed by hospital staff



SUNGAI PETANI: A woman carefully packed her son's severed fingertip in ice and rushed it to the hospital hoping that doctors would be able to re-attach it.

However, a hospital staff took one look at it and decided it could not be re-attached. He then flushed the digit down the toilet.

A flabbergasted Zuraiza Omar has lodged a police report on the incident and is claiming that Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital was negligent.

Zuraiza's son, Muhamad Shaeidil Amir, 11, was injured on Friday when he accidentally sliced off the tip of his left forefinger while cutting off the top of a coconut with a parang at his home in Kampung Batu Menunggul, Air Putih, Pendang.

"My son was referred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital at 11am, on Friday. I also took the fingertip, which I packed in ice," said the 35-year-old housewife.
She said her son was treated at the hospital's emergency department, and a staff there asked her for the finger tip.

"He looked at it and said it could not be re-attached. He went out of the room and returned a few minutes later.

"The other staff asked for the fingertip and the man nonchalantly replied that he had flushed it down the toilet. I could sense that his colleagues were shocked by their expression."

Zuraiza said the doctor was also taken aback when she informed him of what had happened.

She then lodged a report at the Alor Star police station.

State health director Dr Hasnah Ismail said the incident was being investigated.

Netting whopper of a grouper



TELUK INTAN: Their dragnet felt extremely heavy but the three fishermen from Hutan Melintang did not think a live 183kg grouper fish was their big catch.

Fisherman Tan Eng Thiam, 45, said the incident happened about 11am yesterday when they were fishing in the Straits of Malacca coast near Sembilan island.

Tan said the machine lifting the dragnet to the fishermen’s boat experienced technical difficulties due to the heavy catch.

He said it was common for the machine to experience difficulties when the drag net got stuck on logs at the bottom of the sea.

“However we were stunned to find what we thought were logs was actually a giant grouper fish that was still alive,” said Tan.
The 2.1-metre-long fish was brought back to the beach near Hutan Melintang. They first sold the fish to a middle-man who later sold it to a restaurant operator for RM5,500.

Before yesterday’s big catch, the heaviest grouper fish caught weighed 163kg.

Mystery mansion


PENANG: A dilapidated mansion in Relau is sending chills down the spines of nearby residents who have heard rumours of “souls'' in the building.

Factory operator M. David Raj, 19, who has been hanging out at the Relau Villa mansion with his friends and cousins for the past five years, said he had on several occasions smelt “fish curry'' while they were there at about 7pm.

“My friend once uttered some vulgar words while we were coming down the steps in the mansion and he suddenly went tumbling down,'' said Raj, who had heard rumours about a woman committing suicide in the mansion's pool.

Another resident, who only wished to be known as Ah Beng, said a nun who used to live in the mansion grounds once told him that “something is always whispering'' to her.

“I never got to find out what it was about because she died about three years ago,'' said Ah Beng.



The mansion's condition adds to the eerie atmosphere. It is covered with creeper plants with tree branches making their way up the old stone walls.

The grounds of the single-storey mansion, which is believed to be more than 100 years old, are densely covered in lallang and bushes.

There is a pool right in the middle of the building. The roof of the building is missing.

On Wednesday, China Press reported that seven monks and 30 devotees had offered prayers at the mansion to fulfil a request by the nun. The daily reported that the nun had apparently seen many “souls'' at the mansion.

Relau Villa is among the many possessions belonging to Kapitan Cina of Perak Chung Keng Kwee.

Keng Kwee's great-grandson Owen Chung, 75, who is the trustee of the villa, said the claims by the nun, who he claimed was illegally occupying the land, were not true.

He said there were currently no plans to develop the plot of land.

Death after easing himself



GEORGE TOWN: A 72-year-old shipping company employee slipped and fell into the sea while answering nature’s call on board a tugboat yesterday.

Bashah Hassan of Sungai Pinang was with his colleague, Mazuki Abu Bakar, 58, when the incident happened shortly after midnight.

Bashah struggled and shouted frantically for help after falling into the sea but Mazuki could do nothing to save him due to the choppy waves and strong currents.

Relating the incident, Mazuki said Bashah had told him earlier that he wanted to ease himself.

"Shortly, I heard Bashah’s loud screams for help. I had a shock when I saw him struggling to keep himself afloat in the rough seas."
Mazuki threw a rope for Bashah but the victim failed to grab it.

A search-and-rescue mission was jointly conducted by the Marine Police, Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Department.

Bashah’s body has yet to be recovered.

RTD chief denies it but she admits to khalwat: Video included?


KUALA LUMPUR: He is married and she is already engaged to be married.

But on Aug 8, both of them were found in the same room at a five-star hotel here. He was clad in a towel while she was in bed, covered only with a blanket.

And yesterday, both of them were at the Syariah High Court where they were charged with committing khalwat (close proximity).

The accused was the Kedah Road Transport Department director, Zulkifli Othman, 46, who claimed trial.

Nurjuliati Juhar, 27, pleaded guilty and was fined RM2,950. She is a secretary with the Education Ministry.
The offence was committed at Room No. 401, Concorde Hotel, Jalan Sultan Ismail, about 3am on Aug 8.

Facts of the case stated that a team of enforcement officers from the Federal Territory Religious Department raided the hotel room upon receiving a tip-off.

Zulkifli was clad only in a towel when he opened the door to the officers, but tried to shut it after they introduced themselves.

After forcing their way into the room, the raiding party found Nurjuliati lying on the bed covered only with a blanket and checks revealed that they were not married to each other.

Prosecuting officer Mohd Yusof Sulaiman told the court that as Nurjuliati was a government servant at the Education Ministry, she should not have been involved in such an act which could adversely affect the moral development of students.

Clad in a purple baju kurung and a white headscarf, Nurjuliati told the court that she was repentant and pleaded with the court to impose only a fine.

"I don’t want to go to jail. My duties at the ministry have nothing to do with students.

"I only deal with promotions of teachers.

"I have planned to marry my fiance and I have confessed to him.

"I promise never to repeat this," she told the court in mitigation.

Judge Muhkyuddin Brahim then imposed a fine of RM2,950 in default of two months’ jail.

She paid the fine.

The judge also fixed Oct 2 for Zulkifli’s next mention.

The RTD director was not represented.

Boy's testicles stuck in pipe after fall


FM: Talk about bad luck...


BUKIT MERTAJAM: A screaming 9-year-old was rushed to hospital with his testicles stuck in a metal pipe.

The boy had to endure the pain for almost 30 minutes before doctors operated on him and removed the pipe.

The incident happened at the boy’s home in Kampung Baru here at 10.15pm on Sunday.

It is learnt that the boy was having a bath when his younger brother called out to him from an adjacent room.

He climbed up the bathroom partition to see why his brother was making a ruckus when he slipped and landed on an uncovered metal pipe which runs into the concrete water tank.
His father, 50, rushed into the bathroom and was shocked to see his son lying on the floor with his testicles stuck in the pipe.

Medical staff who responded to the emergency call were forced to call firemen for help when they too failed to remove the pipe.

Bukit Mertajam fire officer Rohana Mustafa said they had to use a hydraulic cutter to cut both ends of the pipe.

The boy was then rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital with his testicles still caught in the L-shaped pipe.

He underwent a 30-minute operation and was discharged from the hospital at noon yesterday.

Minah rempit tak bermaruah: Aksi lucah melampau - Videos Included


KUALA LUMPUR: Minah rempit kini semakin berani meletakkan diri mereka di dalam carta ‘sampah masyarakat’ berikutan penyebaran beberapa klip video kumpulan itu di internet dalam keadaan memalukan.

Jika sebelum ini banyak kumpulan mat rempit merakam aksi ‘berani mati’, kini minah rempit pula bertindak lebih dahsyat apabila secara sukarela membiarkan aksi jijik mereka dirakam dan kemudian dimuat turun di internet, termasuk laman web antarabangsa.

Kebanyakan klip video itu boleh didapati di laman web ‘YouTube’ dengan menaip perkataan ‘Minah Rempit’. Laman web itu kemudian memaparkan 63 transaksi atau klip video berkaitan kumpulan berkenaan.

Bagaimanapun, Metro Ahad yang melayari laman web itu hanya mendapati lapan daripada klip video berkenaan memaparkan aksi melampau minah rempit, dengan tiga menunjukkan aksi kelucahan melampau yang memalukan.

Klip video terbaru minah rempit yang dimuat turun ke laman web ‘YouTube’ seminggu lalu adalah paling berani bertajuk ‘Drunken Minah Rempit Show Off’ (DMRSO) memaparkan seorang minah rempit membuka baju dan menunjukkan payu daranya ketika membonceng motosikal ditunggang seorang mat rempit.



Dalam klip video selama 46 saat itu, minah rempit bertopi keledar itu turut menunjukkan isyarat lucah kepada penunggang dan pembonceng motosikal yang mengekori untuk merakam aksinya.

Walaupun baru seminggu dimuat turun dalam ‘YouTube’, klip video itu mencapai lebih 6,000 ‘hits’ atau ditonton 6,000 kali oleh mereka yang melayari laman web itu.

Ini perkembangan terbaru yang bukan saja memperlekehkan kewibawaan penguatkuasaan undang-undang, tetapi juga mencemarkan imej negara, terutama klip video itu dimuatkan turun ke laman web antarabangsa, sekali gus boleh ditonton di seluruh dunia.

Selain DMRSO, klip video yang turut mendapat sambutan hangat di internet bertajuk ‘Mat N Minah Rempit’ memaparkan aksi minah rempit berdiri lalu membuka baju dan menunjukkan payu daranya dalam aksi mengghairahkan. Di belakang minah rempit terbabit ialah seorang mat rempit memakai topi keledar.



Klip video lain bertajuk ‘Awek Rempit Kena Raba’ pula menunjukkan seorang mat rempit meraba dan memasukkan tangannya ke dalam coli seorang minah rempit di warung sambil diperhatikan beberapa rakan mereka.



Sebelum ini, klip video bertajuk ‘Awek Kedah Merempit’ (AKM) yang menunjukkan seorang minah rempit secara selamba tanpa rasa takut berdiri di belakang motosikal ditunggang secara ‘wheelie’ oleh seorang mat rempit mendapat sambutan hangat di laman web berkenaan berikutan ia dikatakan aksi paling hebat pernah dilakukan minah rempit.



Begitupun, di dalam ‘YouTube’ ada beberapa klip video yang sama dengan AKM tetapi mempunyai tajuk lain seperti ‘Remix Mat Minah Rempit Mengganas’, ‘Minah Rempit’ dan ‘Awek Kedah’.



Aksi lain minah rempit di laman web ‘YouTube’ ialah klip video bertajuk ‘Minah Bertudung Pacak’ menunjukkan dua gadis bertudung cuba melakukan aksi ‘wheelie’. Satu lagi klip video sama pula menggunakan tajuk ‘Apa Le Nak Jadi’.



Klip video bertajuk ‘Minah Rempit U’ pula menunjukkan sekumpulan minah rempit yang tidak memakai topi keledar menunggang lima motosikal di kawasan jalan utama, manakala ‘Awek Tenggek’ membabitkan aksi minah rempit membonceng motosikal sambil menaikkan punggungnya untuk menarik perhatian mat rempit lain.

Klip video terakhir ialah ‘Rempit’ yang menunjukkan minah rempit di atas motosikal pada siang hari menonton sekumpulan mat rempit menunjukkan pelbagai aksi berbahaya.



Semua klip video itu turut disebarkan menerusi telefon bimbit dan e-mel.

Timbalan Menteri Keselamatan Dalam Negeri, Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, berang dengan apa yang berlaku dan menyifatkannya sebagai usaha menduga kesabaran Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM).

Beliau dipetik sebagai berkata, kehadiran klip video yang mudah diakses melalui internet dan telefon bimbit itu akan menimbulkan masalah apabila ada pihak, terutama remaja ‘cetek akal’, ghairah meniru aksi berkenaan.

Penyebaran klip video terbaru itu menunjukkan kumpulan rempit, termasuk minah rempit, semakin ganas dan sanggup melakukan apa saja untuk menarik perhatian masyarakat, seolah-olah perbuatan mereka sesuatu yang glamor.

Aksi ganas minah rempit terbaru ialah pada 18 Ogos lalu apabila seorang remaja perempuan berusia belasan tahun menendang motosikal anggota Skuad 42 Polis Trafik Kuala Lumpur untuk menyelamatkan teman lelakinya ketika cuba ditangkap dalam operasi mencegah mat rempit di Bandar Tun Razak, di sini.

Berikutan itu, Ketua Trafik Pasukan Bukit Aman, Senior Asisten Komisioner II Hamza Taib, mengumumkan Skuad 42 yang diwujudkan khas untuk membanteras lumba haram yang kini hanya beroperasi di ibu kota akan diperluaskan ke negeri lain, terutama Pulau Pinang, Perak, Johor dan Selangor.

“Bukan mudah untuk menangkap dan menggempur kegiatan lumba haram kerana mereka licik dan berani. Sebab itu perancangan lebih teratur dan fokus perlu dilaksanakan, termasuk melakukan penyamaran,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, sejak 2005 hingga Julai tahun ini, seramai 1,557 pelumba haram ditangkap mengikut Sekyen 42 Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987, dengan Melayu seramai 1,436 orang, Cina (51), India (63) dan kaum lain (tujuh).

4 held over education officer’s murder



COULD he have died over a mere RM100? This is the latest twist in the murder case of Education Ministry assistant director Rashid Sait, who was found stabbed in his home on Aug 14.

Police believe that the amount could have been the source of a misunderstanding between Rashid and the murder suspect.

It is learnt that the suspect, a man in his 20s, fi rst met Rashid in Bandar Sri Permaisuri several months ago. They have been in contact since then and the suspect is believed to have borrowed money from the victim.

The source claimed that on Aug 11, the suspect was believed to have gone to the victim’s unit at Desa Tun Razak Apartment in Cheras.

Rashid is believed to have picked up the suspect at the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT station after getting a phone call from the latter. En route to the house, they stopped at a fast-food outlet.

It is learnt that at the house, Rashid had asked for his RM100.

The conversation, however, turned into a heated argument.

Since then, the suspect, an employee with an event management company, had gone into hiding in Malacca.

However, following a tip-off, police arrested him and his three friends, all in their 20s, at a bus stop in Masjid Tanah on Tuesday at 3pm.

Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Rusli Ahmad (picture) said the four, two of whom are women, were in the victim’s car.

“The Hyundai Atos bore a false number plate. There were several items found with the suspects which were linked to the case,” Rusli told a Press conference yesterday.

None of the four, he said, had a criminal record.

“They are from Malacca but work as odd-job workers in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Rusli said although there was no sign of forced entry at the victim’s house, police believe robbery could have been the motive behind the murder.

“There were signs of a fi ght.

“We believe the case has been solved. We are wrapping up the loose ends in the probe before we submit the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor’s offi ce,” he said.

Rusli also ruled out the theory that the main suspect was the victim’s mysterious house mate, as claimed by a neighbour.

“He (the suspect) was also not the man who owns a cleaning service company that serviced the deceased’s offi ce in Bukit Kiara.

“They were just helping us with the investigation,” he said.

The four are being remanded until next Wednesday.

Rashid, 37, an Education Technology Division resource management assistant director, was found dead with stab wounds by his colleague at 1.05pm last Tuesday.

The colleague had gone to check on the bachelor at the apartment after he did not turn up for work on Monday.

Police found an eight-inch long knife in the living room, believed to be the murder weapon. There were traces of blood on it.

They also found paper cups and a fast-food box in the house, suggesting that the victim had received guests. The apartment was not ransacked.

A post-mortem revealed that the victim was stabbed four times — on the left and middle sections of his abdomen, as well as on his left arm. His left hand was also slashed.

There were no defensive wounds on the body.

Gay lover held over man’s murder

KUALA LUMPUR: The government officer found dead in his apartment in Cheras last week was believed to have been murdered over a RM100 debt.

The suspect, who was arrested yesterday, is also believed to be the victim, Rashid Sait’s gay lover.

Rashid, 37, the assistant director of the technology division of the Kuala Lumpur Education Department, is believed to have met the suspect at an infamous gay haunt in Cheras a few months ago.

They saw each other on several occasions including on Aug 11, when Rashid was last seen alive.

That was also the day when the two bought a meal from a fast-food outlet on the south-bound R&R restaurant near the Sungai Besi toll plaza before proceeding to the victim’s unit at the Desa Tun Razak apartments here.
Rashid was found dead with stab wounds on his chest three days later by two of his colleagues who went to check on him after he failed to turn up for work.

Yesterday, Cheras police chief ACP Rusli Ahmad said they had arrested a man believed to be the main suspect in the murder. Also arrested was his girlfriend and another couple. All four were driving Rashid’s Hyundai Atos car which was fitted with false number plates.

The suspects were detained at a bus stop in Masjid Tanah, Malacca about 3pm on Tuesday. Rusli said all four suspects are from the same village in Malacca.

Police also found some of Rashid’s personal belongings on the suspects.

"The main suspect is a part-time worker in the entertainment industry," Rusli said.

Rusli also confirmed that the man, said to be in his 20s, had known Rashid and that they had gotten into a fight over some money which was owed to the victim. All four suspects have been remanded for eight days to facilitate investigations.

"We believe the case is now solved," Rusli said.

Police had all along believed that Rashid was murdered by someone whom he knew as there was no sign of a break-in at his apartment unit.

There were also signs that victim had shared a meal with the assailant or assailants.

Rashid’s apartment was not ransacked. His wallet was left intact but his car was missing.

Police also found several long-haired wigs, blouses and bras in the apartment, leading police to believe that the victim was a cross-dresser.

A knife, which was believed to be the murder weapon, was also found in the unit.

‘Inseparable’ couple referred to hospital for separation


Husband said to have asked bomoh to ‘lock’ wife’s body when she committed adultery

SIBU: A couple was said to have sought medical help last Saturday after their bodies became “inseparable” in an intimate relationship while they were romancing at a beach in Mukah last Saturday night.

In the romantic affair, the couple was said to have become helpless, and when they found no way to separate their bodies, they called for help from a friend.

Their friend came to wrap them in a ‘sarung’ and send them to the hospital in Mukah. The hospital in the coastal town referred the couple to Sibu.

The medical staff members here were informed of the incident, but in their journey to the hospital here, the bodies of the couple ‘loosened up’, and the vehicle that took them here turned back to their hometown.

Following the incident, the news spread in Mukah. Some curious readers even called the reporters for confirmation of the case.

A medical staff member here, who refused to reveal his identity, said they did receive the notification of the referral case from Mukah, “but the locked-together couple did not turn up”.

According to a source, the man and the woman were both in their 30s. It was said that they were both married.

When the husband of the woman was out of town last weekend, the couple got together for a night of romance.

The source also claimed that the husband of the woman had earlier been suspicious of his wife whenever he was not in town.

To catch her in the act, he was said to have sought help from a bomoh to “lock her body up with the man” when they committed adultery.

Chairman of Malaysia Medical Association, Sibu Sub-branch Dr Hu Chang Hock, when contacted, confirmed that such cases known medically as varinismus did occur, but the occurrences were rare.

“It normally happens when the couple making love are psychologically anxious. For example, the situation could happen when a couple is having an illegitimate affair.”

He said before the occurrence, there was a painful vaginal muscle contraction and spasm, “and this virtually locks the two bodies together, making them inseparable.”

On ways to avoid it, he said the advice should come from a psychologist.

On medical treatment, he said the woman could be given muscle relaxant injection to let the muscles in her body relax.

He said no such case had ever been referred to him.

Gadis lari kena gula-gula jampi



KUALA TERENGGANU: Seorang ibu mendakwa punca utama anak gadisnya berusia 18 tahun melarikan diri dari rumah selama sembilan hari sebelum pulang semula akibat termakan `gula-gula jampi’ yang dipercayai dilakukan seseorang.

Fatimah Ngah, 54, dari Kampung Beladau Kolam, dekat sini, berkata dia yakin anak gadisnya, Nurul Samira Nawi `terkena’ selepas memakan gula-gula berkenaan yang sudah dijampi.

Menurutnya, dia menemui gula-gula pelbagai jenama itu di atas meja di rumahnya yang ditinggalkan anak bongsu daripada lima beradik itu ketika mandi selepas pulang semula ke pangkuan keluarga kelmarin.

“Saya yakin gula-gula itu yang dipercayai sudah dijampi digunakan bagi menawan hati Mira sebelum dia melarikan diri tempoh hari.

“Ini kerana sebelum ini, Mira tidak pernah membeli gula-gula sebanyak itu dan jika ada pun akan diberikan kepada anak-anak saudaranya,” katanya ketika ditemui di rumahnya semalam.

Malah, katanya, dia bertambah hairan apabila anak gadisnya itu sanggup menyembunyikan gula-gula berkenaan sehingga ditemui di atas meja ketika berada di bilik air.

“Sejak Mira ke rumah petang kelmarin, dia juga tidak banyak bercakap dan asyik menangis apabila ditanya mengenai punca dia meninggalkan rumah tanpa pengetahuan keluarga.

“Bagaimanapun, saya dan suami tetap bersyukur kepada Allah kerana membuka pintu hati Mira untuk pulang ke rumah walaupun sudah sembilan hari menghilangkan diri,” katanya.

Nurul Samira selamat pulang ke rumahnya kira-kira jam 5.30 petang kelmarin sebelum menghubungi seorang kakaknya meminta mengambilnya di Perhentian Bas Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Terengganu (MPKT).

Fatimah berkata, setakat ini, anak bongsunya itu hanya memberitahu dia bekerja di sebuah pasar raya di Shah Alam, Selangor bersama rakan sepanjang sembilan hari kehilangan nya

“Bagaimanapun, semua barangan kemas miliknya dianggarkan bernilai kira-kira RM2,000 didapati hilang dan apabila ditanya, Mira mendakwa sudah menjualnya bagi membayar sewa rumah di Shah Alam,” katanya.

Harian Metro sebelum ini melaporkan kisah seorang ibu yang tidak menjangka perubahan imej ditunjukkan anak gadisnya berusia 18 tahun membawa petanda dia akan lari meninggalkan rumah tanpa pengetahuan keluarga.

Sebelum kejadian itu, Nurul Samira dikatakan sentiasa memakai tudung, namun beberapa hari sebelum melarikan diri, dia dikatakan sudah tidak lagi bertudung.

Mat Skodeng kena belasah


CHERAS: Seorang Mat Skodeng dicekup orang ramai ketika asyik merakam seorang suri rumah yang sedang mandi dengan menggunakan telefon bimbitnya, di Pangsapuri Razak, Salak Selatan di sini, malam tadi.

Difahamkan, ketika kejadian kira-kira jam 9 malam itu, lelaki berusia 47 tahun berkenaan merakam aksi seorang suri rumah, dikenali sebagai Hor, 33, yang pada ketika itu sedang mandi di bilik mandi kediamannya di tingkat satu tanpa disedarinya.

Bagaimanapun, kelibat lelaki terbabit disedari oleh jiran Hor, iaitu K Sinavasigam, 38, yang kebetulan keluar dari kediamannya sebelum menyergah lelaki terbabit yang kemudian cuba melarikan diri.

Siva berkata, dia mengejar lelaki itu sebelum lebih daripada 10 jiran tetangga yang menyedari insiden itu turut mengejar dan membelasahnya beramai-ramai sehingga dompet serta telefon bimbitnya dicuri.

“Kami memang dah lama nak tangkap dia (Mat Skodeng) kerana sebelum ini kami dapati sudah lebih tiga rumah dia ceroboh.

“Dia tinggal di Taman Pertama, dekat sini tetapi sanggup datang ke kawasan penempatan pangsapuri kami untuk intai gadis,” katanya ketika ditemui pemberita di sini, malam tadi.

Lelaki terbabit dipercayai datang ke pangsapuri berkenaan hampir setiap hari selepas pulang daripada bekerja kira-kira jam 8 malam dan merayau di sekitar kawasan berkenaan untuk mencari mangsanya yang sedang mandi.

Sebelum itu, Hor berkata, dipercayai lebih tiga rumah diintai lelaki itu sejak tiga bulan lalu, akhirnya dia berjaya dicekup semalam.

Hor yang trauma dengan kejadian ini, berkata dia tidak sedar dirinya sedang dirakam ketika mandi sehingga dimaklumkan oleh jiran tetangga sejurus selepas lelaki terbabit ditahan dan dibawa ke balai polis berdekatan.

“Pada ketika itu suami saya keluar rumah dan saya tinggal bersama anak perempuan saya berusia tujuh tahun.

“Saya amat takut rakaman bogel saya disiarkan di Internet memandangkan telefon bimbit lelaki itu dikatakan hilang ketika dia dibelasah orang ramai,” katanya.

Menurut seorang penduduk pangsapuri berkenaan Mohd Fitri Mustapha Kamal, 20, dia turut sama mengejar lelaki terbabit dan ini bukanlah kejadian pertama.

“Sebelum ini kami cuba menangkapnya tetapi dia berjaya melarikan diri menaiki kenderaannya.

“Dia sudah merakam aksi wanita di pangsapuri ini mandi sejak tiga bulan lalu, isteri orang, anak dara, nenek pun ada yang menjadi mangsa,” katanya.

Timbalan Pengerusi Rukun Tetangga pangsapuri berkenaan, Albert Phoon Yaituak, berkata kegiatan licik lelaki terbabit sememangnya sudah dihidu penduduk sekitar namun dia berjaya melarikan diri setiap kali ditangkap ketika merakam.

“Kali ini dia tidak dapat lepas, sejurus selepas dia ditangkap dia dibelasah penduduk hingga mukanya hampir pecah dan hidungnya berdarah.

“Saya kemudian membawa lelaki terbabit ke Balai Polis Salak Selatan untuk membuat aduan,” katanya.

Ketua Polis Daerah Cheras, Asisten Komisioner Rusli Ahmad, ketika dihubungi mengesahkan kejadian berkenaan dan berkata suspek kini ditahan dan akan direman hari ini.

“Siasatan mendapati mangsa bekerja di syarikat mencetak dan datang ke pangsapuri berkenaan semata-mata untuk merakam aksi wanita sedang mandi.

“Bagaimanapun, kami masih lagi menjalankan siasatan terperinci berhubung kes ini,” katanya.
