Singapore armpit-sniffer gets caning, 14 years jail

A MOLESTER with a fixation for smelling women's armpits was sentenced to 14 years in jail and ordered caned 18 times, Singapore news reports.

Mohammed Ismail Ariffin, 36, was convicted of molesting 23 females from girls as young as 9 to women in their 50s, The Straits Times said.

Community Court Judge James Leong imposed a preventive detention sentence, a jail term for hardcore prisoners with no chance of parole.

Mohammed Ismail stalked his victims and followed them into lifts, staircase landings or their homes. In some cases, he restrained them.

Apart from sniffing his victims' armpits, Mohammed Ismail also was guilty of fondling a 13-year-old and exposing himself to a 53-year- old cleaner, the court found.

Following a report from a housewife that a man had smelled her armpit on January 3, the police took a semen swab at the scene which led them to Mohammed Ismail.

A detention report submitted to the court today said the man's crime pattern put him in a group with more than a 62-per-cent chance of committing crimes again within two years of release from prison.

Pleading for leniency, lawyer Noor Mohamed Marican urged the judge to send Mohammed Ismail for a rehabilitative program and medical treatment instead of imposing a long sentence.

"The facts of the case speak for themselves," Leong was quoted as saying.

The judge said he found "precious little" in Mohammed Ismail's favour, except that he pleaded guilty.

He had previous convictions since 1991 for drug and sex-related offences.

Women in jeans 'cannot be raped'

Italy's highest court has ruled that a woman wearing jeans cannot be raped.

The Supreme Court of Appeal in Rome on Wednesday overturned a rape conviction, saying that the supposed victim must have agreed to sex because her jeans could not have been removed without her consent.

A court in the southern town of Potenza had convicted a driving instructor of raping his 18-year-old pupil.

The instructor, aged 45 and identified only as Carmine, had been sentenced to 34 months' jail.

His defence had argued that the young woman - identified as Rosa - had consented to sex, a version of events which the woman strongly denied.

The Supreme Court ruled that it was impossible to remove a pair of jeans "without the collaboration of the person wearing them", and that the young woman must therefore have consented to sex.

In a judgement likely to anger women's rights organisations, the rape conviction was reversed.

Driving instructors in Italy have a reputation, deserved or undeserved, for molesting young female pupils, and the case appeared at first to be a familiar story of sexual assault on a lonely country road.

Yes We Can - Barack Obama Music Video by Will.I.Am

A truly inspiring speech by Senator Obama that was turned into an amazing music video about "Hope " by Will.I.Am (of the Black Eye Peas). Senator Obama is one of the main contender running to be (the first black) US President.

Senator Obama, Yes You Can!!

Lyrics:

"It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics...they will only grow louder and more dissonant ........... We've been asked to pause for a reality check. We've been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea --

Yes. We. Can."

Fancy used undies?

AN 18-YEAR-OLD student in Singapore is openly selling worn-cum-unwashed thongs, panties and bras via online, reported China Press.

According to the daily, the student posted pictures of her lingerie with price tags in her blog. The blog also has pictures of her wearing thongs.

A pair of panties costs RM69 while a bra goes for RM115. Pictures of the student (not showing her face) in underwear are also available at RM23 each.

The student, known as Pamela, said the sale was to help finance her studies.

Pamela said she did not meet up with her clients and provide “extra” service other than selling them the used items.

She said all items purchased were immediately sealed in plastic bags and posted.

Business has been brisk for the past month as Pamela had sold four pairs of G-strings and a few pictures of her in thongs.

Currently, the unsold undergarments posted in her blog include eight G-strings and four bras.

Angolan actors 'killed by police'

The director of an Angolan crime film says police have shot dead two of his actors after mistaking them for real armed robbers.

The duo were carrying unloaded firearms as they filmed a scene in a rough suburb of the capital Luanda, director Radical Ribeiro told AFP news agency.

He said police roared up to the set and began shooting at close range.

Angolan officials have not commented on the incident. Mr Ribeiro says he had permission to film in the area.

Mr Ribeiro told AFP that police arrived at the scene in a pick-up truck and "started shooting at everybody at close range".

He was "stunned" when he saw the two actors fall down, he added.

"They went on shooting until I shouted out: 'Please don't shoot, this is a movie.'"

The officers then stopped firing and left without attending to the wounded, who were taken to hospital, Mr Ribeiro said.

Thailand crowned world's transsexual beauty queen

FM: Only in Thailand....

Dressed in a flowing yellow gown with matching earrings, a demure Thai business student wept and embraced her rivals after being crowned the world’s most beautiful transsexual.

Tanyarat Jirapatpakon was today named Miss International Queen of 2007, besting 23 stunning transsexuals who had come to the Thai beach resort of Pattaya from as far as Germany and Puerto Rico for a shot at the diamond crown.

The Thai’s extravagant yet elegant costumes and dedication to environmental causes helped carry the day, taking her past runners-up Aleika Barros of Brazil and Chanel Madrigal of the Philippines.

“I feel excited and so happy. Everybody enjoyed the contest and I didn’t expect anything like this,” the 21-year-old said from atop her throne after winning 10,000 dollars and the title.

In a nation obsessed with beauty pageants and famous for its sexual tolerance, this elaborate contest is taken every bit as seriously as the more traditional competitions.
Contestants’ costumes can cost up to one million baht (33,000 dollars), and the audience was treated to all the glitz and glam of conventional beauty pageants, complete with swimsuit and evening-wear rounds.

“This is the night I have been preparing for my whole life,” gushed Colombia’s Melania Armenta, a 25-year-old model.

Festivities began on Saturday evening, with last year’s winner Erica Andrews performing “Mexican Aztec” — an upbeat, pulsating dance homage to her homeland complete with ancient pyramids, flashing native symbols and historic outfits.

In the costume round, Tanyarat had to compete against a butterfly, a swan and a Mercedes Benz, but the top prize in the category was given to Japan’s Beni Tsukishima for her authentic kabuki ensemble.

Tanyarat’s angelic white-beaded evening wear, fit for the grandest of galas, gave way to the more salacious floral pink bikini in the swimsuit competition, showing off her shapely legs and slim figure.

But she finally wooed the crowd with dedication to loftier issues.

“Global warming is one of the most serious problems the world faces today,” she said when asked how she helps educate people on environmental issues.

“I tell them to ’think about it’. It’s your world too,” she said.

The crowd, consisting of mostly Thais and the occasional bewildered tourist, cheered loudly for the homegrown favourite but were upstaged by feverish, flag-waving Filipinos who supported four of their compatriots.

Tiffany’s Show Pattaya, which runs the event and claims to be the world’s largest transsexual cabaret, said more than 25 million Thai television viewers had been expected to tune in.

Known in Thailand as “kathoey,” or the third gender, Thai transsexuals have slowly been leaving cabarets for mainstream success in music and other endeavours, helped in part by the popularity of beauty contests.

Participants praised Thailand for its progressive attitude towards sexuality.

“There is still a lot of discrimination against people like me in the Philippines,” said 24-year-old Rain Marie Madrigal, from Manila.

“Thailand is like a utopia for transgender people.” - AFP

Singaporeans blur on sex

MANY Singaporeans have been seeking help from doctors on how to have sexual intercourse, Sin Chew Daily reported yesterday.

Singapore Thomson Medical Centre (TMC) founder Dr Cheng Wei Chen said the hospital received several people every month, mostly university graduates, seeking their guidance on how to “do it”.

Its urology senior consultant Dr Lin Fa Cai said he once treated a woman who was married for 10 years and supposedly had sex more than 1,000 times, but was still a virgin.

Dr Lin said the husband, who had a doctorate degree, and his wife, who complained of being unable to conceive, sought help at the hospital.

“The couple told me they had sex about three times a week but when I examined the wife, her hymen was still intact.

“He had a doctorate degree but zero knowledge on sex,” he said.

Another doctor, who declined to be named, said a couple in their 30s sought help from Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Medical Centre for failing to conceive after seven years of marriage.

He said he found no problem with the couple but later discovered that the husband withdrew just before ejaculating.

Sex tutorial with Dr Love

A NEWLY-MARRIED couple had sexual intercourse in front of a Singapore sex expert known as Dr Love after complaining to him that they could not experience sexual pleasure, reported China Press.

The daily said the couple, in their 30s, had called on Dr Love to tell him that they had tried various sex positions but still could not achieve any satisfaction.

He told the daily that the woman also complained that she suffered from stiff back whenever she had sex with her husband.

Dr Love then showed them pictures of various sexual intercourse techniques and explained to the couple, who paid S$700 (RM1,600) in consultation fee, how to tackle their problem.

“It was then that the woman suggested to me that she have sex with her husband in front of me.

“They undressed and had sex on my sofa. They wanted me to correct their mistakes on the spot,” the daily quoted Dr Love as saying.

However, the daily reported that the couple still could not understand the various techniques taught after spending 45 minutes with Dr Love.

Dr Love said an average of 14 couples would have sex in front of him in a year to show him their problems.

He said there was nothing to feel embarrassed about sex as the couples were just hoping to seek sexual pleasure.

Malaysian Sues: Refuses Iraq Duty

LOS ANGELES: A Malaysian-born US Army soldier has launched a legal bid to prevent being sent to Iraq, claiming deployment to the war zone would conflict with his religious beliefs, lawyers said on Friday.

Calvin Lee Chee Keong, a 26-year-old Malaysian who has permanent residency in the United States, said in a lawsuit filed here that he had been duped into joining the military by recruiters in 2004.

Lee, a Buddhist, said he had been told he would never have to leave the United States during his three years' military service or go to war, lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said.

However, he sought conscientious objector status after discovering that his service was being extended and his unit was being deployed to Iraq, the ACLU said in a statement.

“Every action of killing is so evil and wrong, I don’t want to do any evil things and see any suffering happening right in front of my eyes,” Lee said in the statement.

The Department of the Army rejected his conscientious objector application without explanation despite recommendations for his release by army officers, a chaplain and a mental health specialist, the ACLU said.

“Based on the record, the army has no basis in fact and no good reason to refuse Calvin’s application,” said Deborah Karpatkin, Lee’s attorney.

“As Calvin wrote in his CO application, he learned in the army that America is about seeking religious freedom.”

A spokesman for the army declined to comment.

Lee, who is currently assigned to the 58th Combat Engineer Company based at Fort Irwin, California, joined the army in 2004 after a recruiter approached him at a job fair in San Francisco, the ACLU said. Despite his uneasiness, Lee continued to work, turning down promotions in rank and salary as he felt his faith required, the ACLU said.

By November, Lee applied to a Malaysian temple to live as a monk after the end of his army service, which was originally scheduled for September, the ACLU said. But in December, the army informed Lee that his term of service was being extended and his unit would be deployed to Iraq.

Sam the seagull stealing Doritos

A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing crisps from a neighbourhood shop.

The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos.

Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds.

The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in Aberdeen , Scotland , and helped himself to a bag of crisps. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of crisps .

Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny .

Morons at Airport - very funny

FM: Received this from a friend. Totally Hilarious!

Two guys have wasted their time at airports, in this case, London’s Heathrow, by writing down strange names and asking the airport Information Center to locate these people by calling out their names on the airport’s PA system. These guys would then hang out beneath the speakers and record the results.

In order to make it as believable as possible, they dressed up as chauffeurs and asked for help finding these people about 40 minutes after a Thai Airways, Malaysian Airlines or Air India flight had landed.

They acted as if they could not pronounce the names themselves, so as not to reveal the joke, but just handed over a note with the names printed on it and asked the employee at the Information Center.

After the fifth recording, they had to leave Heathrow as airport security figured out what was going on. The last recording is from Gatwick.

To hear the recordings, click on the videos below. Give these guys the Big Practical Joker prize.

Lesbian kiss photo riles Singapore

FM: Interesting news for fellow Malaysian on what's happening in Singapore. Singaporeans are becoming too liberal for us Malaysians :)

An online auction site has seen bids to buy the photo of a girlish peck. And it is still making its rounds on the Internet - the result of a 'silly prank' that backfired.

In a rash moment, two girls from Anderson Junior College (Singapore) locked lips for the camera - all for a wacky class photo. They pulled off the joke under the noses of their form tutor and their classmates, when posing for an informal memento at the annual photo-taking session.

Now, the former Year One Science students say they did not mean it and are sorry for what they did. However, it has caused unnecessary embarrassment to the college, their tutor and their parents.

The photo was taken last August. Six months later, it is still making faces go red, no thanks to its circulation via the Internet.

AJC's principal of five years, Mr Tan Tiek Kwee, told The Y Scene that the photo of the kiss was not a result of some fancy digital trick, as some suspected at first. It was just a result of a 'silly prank', he said. The 'fun' pose, captured by a photographer from AJC's Photographic Society, was for the class to keep. As the photographer said 'One, two, three', the girls kissed on the count of three.

Mr Tan claimed that the tutor and the other classmates were not aware of the quick peck - until the photo was developed about a week later. The vice-principal then took immediate action to confiscate the photo and retrieve the negative.

Mr Tan did not want us to speak to the tutor and the girls, but said the tutor was 'unhappy and disappointed' with what happened. When confronted, the girls had cried - out of remorse.

Mr Tan said, "They said they had not pre-planned what they wanted to do.and it was done on the spur of the moment. 'They wanted something creative but they went overboard." He added that there was no 'special relationship' between the two.

The girls have also been punished. They had to do community service in school and write a reflection on what they had done and why they did it. Mr Tan added that the girls' parents were informed and they had apologised to the principal and the college.

Just when they thought the matter was behind them, the photo was put up for an online auction this month. An ex-student also e-mailed Mr Tan, to tell him that he had received the photo as well. Mr Tan, who thought that he had destroyed all evidence of the photo, was bewildered.

Upon further investigation, he found that three copies of the photo had been made by a member of the Photographic Society. The boy had kept one for himself and passed the other two to his schoolmates. Mr Tan said, "One of them passed it to his friend, a polytechnic student. What happened after that, we can't be too sure."

The online auction had started on March 9. Within five days, there were seven bids for the photo. The starting bid of SD $13.14 had risen to SD $53.30, but the auction was cancelled when the school wrote to the site.
